What are your personal picks for the top 5-10 icons that you've made so far this year?



I'm not afraid to admit I'm pretty much in love with that first icon, it's def my fave of the year, possibly even one of my favorite icons of all time. ALL TIME.

What is/are the best colored icon(s) that you've made in 2013?



I've been very partial to green this year..

What has inspired you this year? (techniques, subjects, challenges, etc.) Provide examples if you want.

Well I tried my hand a few times at super colorful/bright icons because I LOVE that kind of coloring but damn it was hard and I failed most of the time.

In a weird way I still love that Holder icon even though I know the result is just not that great, ahaha. I think the Ward icon came out pretty good color-wise, if a bit boring as an icon. ONE DAY I WILL CRACK THIS BRIGHTLY COLORED NUT.

I've also been trying harder for more contrast sometimes. I love my muted/flat stuff but I also drool in envy over bright/contrasty icons so I've been trying, with so-so results..

What area(s) do you think you've improved upon in the last 9 months? What area(s) will you focus on improving throughout the rest of 2013?

I used to be really terrible at simple icons but I think I've gotten better at them this year. I'm actually surprised looking back at my 5 fave icons of this year and seeing how simple most of them are.. I'm usually more texture-obsessed. Though I will point out every one of those icons does have at least 1 texture, just much more subtle, haha.

I'm not giving up on the bright/colorful icon thing, I'll just have to try and try again. :D

31 days of blogging - day 13

13. What is your earliest memory?

Well it's hard to tell the exact earliest memory. I have many memories from the first house I lived in, which we moved out of when I was 4 years old and it's hard to differentiate them. But I do have a nice memory from when I was a toddler, either 3 or 4 years old. It was winter, and my older sister and I were making a snowman. She sent me inside to get a carrot for the nose. I remember my mom opened the crisper drawer in the fridge for me and I looked for a carrot. The crisper drawer part is the clearest part of the memory. It was very important I select a nice carrot! And then I brought it outside and my sister stuck it in the snowman. Then afterwards we came inside and took off our snowsuits and snuggled under a blanket together because it was snowing and really cold.

It's a nice memory!

nanowrimo

Yeah, it's that time again! Time for me to write 10,000 words then lose all motivation and fail at Nano. Woo! :D If you want to be my buddy on nanowrimo my profile is here. :3

I have the vaguest sense of what I wanna do for the novel. I know the tone I want, I know where I want to set it, but I don't know like.. what story I want to do. How can I generate some ideas? *scratches chin*
