what's your country's fan death?
Feb. 21st, 2014 03:23 pmIf you've never heard of fan death, Wikipedia describes it as "death supposedly caused by sleeping in a closed room containing a running electric fan. There are no verified cases of the alleged phenomenon, but it remains a widely believed urban legend in South Korea."
And yesterday I learned about an in-a-similar-vein belief in Russia about so-called magnetic storms that are said to affect people's well-being and health.
I tried to think of similar things here in America, the only ones I thought of was the belief that you can catch a cold just from being out in the cold/wet. Also, that if you swim immediately after eating, you will get cramps and drown.
I find these old wives tales/urban legends very interesting! So I'm curious, what is your country's "fan death"-style urban legend?
