I finished Criminal Intent a week ago, and I am still deep in the throes of it. I'm now, uh, re-watching it. Because I'm going through and taking screencaps and taking note of some of my favorite moments from throughout the show. I'm posting it all on my tumblr, specifically under the tag my stuff.
And I'm also reblogging a lot of CI stuff, all tagged. I am dredging up super old posts to reblog, because the fandom is mostly dead. There are some others out and about there, but I do seem to be singlehandedly resurrecting the CI fandom (on tumblr anyway), so I'm proud of that, lol.
I am really enjoying my main project of selecting 10 caps per episode to showcase. The first four seasons in particular (before the show underwent some shakeups) were all shot really interestingly. Hard to describe, but it's just different from modern day filming styles. If I had to put it to words, I guess I would say the filming style is more slow.. deliberate. The camera spends a lot of time on shots just lingering on faces. And there are a lot of long shots, full body or waist-up, in particular putting the characters in their surroundings. It fits, because CI is the more cerebral of the L&Os, with minimal action. And there's just a nice texture to the film; I'm not sure if they used actual film (I mean, it is an old show, they may very well have been using actual film) but it has an older look to the first 4 seasons versus later in the show when it's clearly the same digital cameras all the other shows are using. Idk I'm not a film expert but that's just how it appears to me.

I've got the first 4 eps posted, and I have a few more queued already. So far every Saturday I spend the whole day rewatching+capping+processing+making posts, lol. I have not been this deep into a fandom in probably years. And it generally hinges on the incredible relationship between Goren and Eames. I love Cop Partners and their UST, but after thoroughly watching Criminal Intent, I think CI did it almost the best (beat out only by Mulder and Scully). They are so complementary and in step with each other all the time, and the chemistry between Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe is so perfect, that it just works. But anyway I won't go on and on about that, my last CI post covered quite a bit of my feelings on that.
I also try to pick out at least one moment per episode that either was an interesting character beat, or just a funny moment, and showcase that quote. And also I like to single out the screencaps whenever Bobby (because usually it's Bobby) has zero sense of personal space:

Like, this is insane? My shipper heart literally never stood a chance with these two.
I am also reading every remotely readable fanfic I can get my hands on, and I'm sorry to say I've already finished going through the offerings at fanfiction.net and AO3 (barely anything on AO3). I'm now trawling through old livejournal communities, because this fandom is Old and a lot of fics were written and posted before AO3 existed. There apparently used to be an archive for CI fics called Amorous Intent but it's long since died, and the wayback machine isn't able to retrieve the fics, so that's a sad loss for the world. I'm thinking of making some kind of fic recommendation master list but that will take a long time so it's backburnered for the moment.
Anyway if you are at all interested in my silly Criminal Intent screencaps and thoughts (just keysmashing in the hashtags) then head on over to my tumblr. I've been thinking also about some meta type posts but I don't have the brainpower for it at the moment. But I am going to be containing most of my general squeeing to there.
I also did write a fic because I had to get it off my chest. I have the outlines of a few more fics brewing, so maybe I will write more, for the collected fandom of about 4 other active people, lol.

Somehow this post went on about 10x longer than I expected it to, oops.
