Yesterday I got my very first real live ~~client~~ to do some research work for, and it was then I realized I don't really keep track of my finances in any real way. I just do work and eventually money shows up in my mailbox. Then I deposit the check and pay bills or waste it, and honestly if I ever wasn't paid for a job I probably wouldn't notice because like I said.. not keeping track. Not very effective! So I created a spreadsheet (<3<3<3 SPREADSHEETS <3<3<3) to keep track of what work I do, how much time I spend on it, money that comes in, etc. And I used formulas to create a column which automatically calculates how much money per hour I earn on each project. Which is fascinating to look at. Why is it so comforting and pleasing to see all the rows of numbers and calculations and stuff?

Oh and I would have never known how to do the formulas in the spreadsheet if it hadn't been for that time I ran a landcomm and had to figure out how to have a nice spreadsheet to go with it. DON'T EVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU FANDOM IS POINTLESS!

Other spreadsheets I've made in the past include a comprehensive list of every comic book I've ever purchased or received, how much I spent on them, volume and issue numbers, is it a variant cover, and special info such as signatures or what have you; and another spreadsheet keeping track of all my survival gear I've collected, food/water stores, and so on. It's an addiction.

So I was killing myself manually adding every book I own into my Goodreads account, and then I discovered that Goodreads has an app, and that app has a barcode scanner. It's now 840285 times easier getting my library cataloged on Goodreads. Except for the books older than like, the 70s, which don't have barcodes, but that's maybe only a 1/4 of my books. But bless technology, man. There is literally an app for everything and I love it.

Ok. I have been procrastinating on work ALL. DAY. *cracks knuckles and buckles down*

Apparently the LJ app hates crossposted stuff cuz I can never comment that way....anywayssss. I love that feature of the goodreads app so very much. It was quite handy when I was adding like every book I own to my list. I've never really kept track f my money either. I pretty much do the same. I do have a spreadsheet the few bills I have and my usual fall tv spreadsheet. Priorities, I have them.
