There's one (half-ish) day of the con left, tomorrow, but I have some downtime tonight cause I got home earlier than usual so I thought I'd post some of my pictures/thoughts so far of my first con everrrrrrr. You may have seen a couple of these if you follow/whatever me on tumblr or facebook.

Ok so I'm going to do this grouped by subject rather than chronologically cause the past three days have already sort of blended together in my head, lol.
Panels
I've gone to about a zillion panels! The schedule is so packed and I haven't been able to go to everything I wanted to, of course. Lots of cool stuff happened concurrently, so I just had to pick some things over other things. Some big ones:
Sam Witwer

Wow there was like hardly anybody there?? I felt bad! But I got a good seat (second row woo)! lol There was one girl in the audience who was cosplaying as Sally from Being Human, a+, and also another girl in the audience who revealed she could identify him from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed because of his grunt. Ahaha. The moderator had fun with that.
As to his actual panel, it was very interesting. Sam Witwer is a funny guy, and he's also amazing at impressions. He did some of his Emperor for us, and some accents. He had some good stories about his auditioning for all his various roles and Being Human, too. And how he and Sam Huntington were basically Aidan and Josh irl when they first met during the audition process. A Wild Shipper appeared during the q&a part of course and she asked if there was gonna be anything between Aidan and Sally next season and he said if he'd been asked that a year ago he'd say definitely no, but now after some of the scenes they had this season that he's having doubts himself. :D Yes good.
He also talked a lot about Star Wars and I knew he was doing a lot of EU stuff, video games and the Clone Wars and all that but I haven't been following any of it so I was just like.. yes, I know some of these words. But he said things might be happening soon and he might be coming back again, but he couldn't really go into it. It meant nothing to me cause I lost track of if they were talking about a game or cartoon or what. tl;dr he does a lot of Star Wars stuff and there were actually a TON of his fans from Star Wars stuff. Like, 70% of the audience questions were about Star Wars.
Also, arms:

just sayin'
Nichelle Nichols

I was in the same spot as the Sam Witwer panel cause I lucked out and she was right after Sam's. Which is good cause this panel was packed, obvs. IT'S GODDAMNED UHURA!
So overall Nichelle's panel was really.. philosophical. I don't mean to disparage her but she reminded me of my grandma, in the way that she was rambly and marginally forgetful. (Sometimes she'd drop her microphone hand and forget to talk into it.) When asked a question, she would start out answering it then completely segue into another topic, lol.
I don't mean to make it sound like she was a crazy old bat cause that's not true at all. Her intellect and wit were 100%. She told some good stories, and she sang for us (amazing O_O), and she made a lot of good jokes. She also waxed philosophical about humanity and consciousness and other things, haha. It was certainly an experience and I'm over the moon that I was in the same room as GODDAMNED UHURA!! (And sidenote, I have a photo op with her and Walter Koenig tomorrow, so excitedddddddd.)
Wil Wheaton's Awesome Hour

This wasn't really a panel, it was a one-man comedy show basically, and also tix were $10 to get in and I prepaid to get them! He packed the big room to capacity which was impressive. I didn't realize just HOW famous Wil has become, lol. We got armbands that said "You are Awesome!".

Yes, yes I am awesome.
Anyway he's pretty funny, which I knew already, but I had a good time. It was mostly just funny stories about his personal life. He also took a ZILLION questions. He was actually really cool cause obviously it's awesome HOUR, but he said he'd go through the whole question line, so it went 20 minutes over. Which was fine because the show was at 9:30pm, I didn't have anywhere to go. lol. The best/funniest story he told was about this time he got capsaicin on his hands then touched his dick, ofc, then ran around his house trying to cure his firedick and stuck his penis into a glass of milk.. lol. It also spawned this fanart. Good times.
Garrett Wang

Out of 10000000% left field, Garrett Wang's panel so far has been my fave. And to think, I almost blew it off to go to the 2014-16 movie preview! His panel was way better than some movie previews would have been.
First off, he is funny as FUCK. Sam Witer is funny. Wil Wheaton is funny. Garrett Wang is FUNNY.
He told lots of amazing and hilarious stories from his time on Voyager. Also lots of good stuff about how poor Harry never got promoted, or a meaningful relationship, or to expand much about his character at all - basically the powers that be said no to every suggestion he had. He also revealed that during the first season, the ptb cut out lots of emotional scenes. Kate Mulgrew had to reshoot 40 scenes to be less emotional! Like times when she had watery eyes or whatever, you know, just emotional scenes b/c Kate Mulgrew is a good actress, and they were like no, we want less emotion. No crying ever. I didn't know any of that stuff, that's crazy. He said Robert Picardo was the only one to ever get his way with the ptb because he wouldn't take no for an answer, lol. Which is how we got the opera scene. He also talked about how the whole cast was really funny, and shared some cute stories about Kate Mulgrew goofing around on set.
He also gave some Real Talk about the Star Trek reboot movies. He actually liked the first one a lot but he was really upset over the casting for SPOILLLLLLLER?????????? Khan. He said Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor but that role should have not gone to a pasty British dude. LOL. It was actually a bit funny cause he was like I'M SORRY THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT and obvs many in the audience were like pffft whatever cause only about 1/3 of us applauded his rant. (The whole topic came up cause someone asked about a deleted twitter picture; he had posted a picture of himself in the theater before Into Darkness, giving a thumbs up, but then after the movie deleted it, LOLLL.) He also made fun of the Cumberbitches. XD
Garrett was also really great with fans. He had them all come up on the stage to ask their questions. He ended up giving this girl a massage:

And then several other people wanted massages too, LOL. He high-fived all his "fellow asians", he was very excited to see them. Especially one guy who was an asian pirate, ahaha.
He also talked about how he goes to as many cons as he can, not just as a guest cause he also works as MC for another con which I didn't know. But I could see he'd be great at it. He was super entertaining, I was laughing stupidly hard sometimes at his stories.
Oh and he co-runs a geeky t-shirt biz with some friends of his and he pimped out his booth, so afterwards I went and found it and bought this shirt:

YES GOOD
smaller panels
Those were all the ~~big ones I went to. I've also gone to several smaller panels, and there is like a huuuuuuge difference in quality. IDK how it is at all cons but all of the smaller fan-run panels I've been to here were horribly organized and run. And a couple were just embarrassing, heh. Like some of them they obviously didn't have a solid plan on what they were going to talk about or anything. Literally every smaller, fan-run panel I went to had technical difficulties with the projector. And one panel, about comic book movies, had some more experienced panelists, an author and someone who runs a comic shop in the valley, but the author was a huuuuuuge blowhard and hardly let the other guy talk (in fact, talked OVER him quite a bit), and the most annoying part? I agreed with everything the blowhard had to say. LOL. (He talked a lot about things Marvel has done right vs what DC has done wrong, and so on.) So I sat in a room for an hour to listen to an irritating dude say all my own opinions at me. Oh well.
Maybe I'm just picking the wrong panels.
Photo Ops
PHOTO OPSSSSSS. So I was awkward as fuck around everybody but oh well C+ for effort, me. All these photos are shitty because I don't have the digital versions yet, these are just photos of my print outs, deal with itttttt.

Me + Sam Witwer. He smelled good and jesus christ he's tiny. Like, he's buff? And tall. Obviously. But structurally SMALL.

Me + Wil Wheaton + my boyfriend. My boyfriend is annoyed by this photo cause he's totally being ignored by Wil there, and Wil has his arm around me, ahaha. Shades of this picture. Wil liked my shirt and we talked about Captain Marvel, I geeked out hard.

Me + John Barrowman + my boyfriend. What the fuck else could I ever say? JOHN. BARROWMAN. We zipped through SO FUCKING FAST for this photo, I mean, I don't blame them, he'd already taken 200 photos the previous day, the line was long as fuuuuuuuuck for my photo time, they had to add an additional photo time later this afternoon, and he's got more tomorrow. lol, everybody loves John Barrowman. But he's sweet. He called my boyfriend buddy. And the people before us brought their two young sons to get a photo with him by themselves, and he was so cute with them. They took multiple photos, one smiling and one "tough guys" photo, and he told the staff or whoever is in charge of that stuff to send him copies of the photos. Bless.
Signed Stuff

This is an awful photo but I'm too tired to take a better one right now oh well. Wil Wheaton signed my Wesley Crusher trading card of possibly the worst TNG episode ever. Yay!
My boyfriend brought a mash paddle to be signed by Wil. A mash paddle is used in beer brewing, it's a big wooden paddle thing, but anyway Wil Wheaton brews beer and so does my boyfriend, so he got Wil to sign his mash paddle and then they talked about brewing beer for like two minutes straight and annoyed the people waiting in line behind my boyfriend. Oops. XD I told my boyfriend that now we're even, because he was ignored in the photo with Wil, but he got a better conversation with him @ the signing.

Kieron Gillen was at a booth for Avatar Press, for some other comic project of his, Uber, which I know nothing about and honestly didn't care about LOL. I got social anxiety about it and avoided meeting him for a day because I wasn't gonna buy any of that comic he was there pimping, I just wanted him to sign my YA. But I plucked up the courage and went, and he was very sweet despite me being the worst at all human interactions. He said he would draw me a picture if I wanted, even though he was a writer, and I was like OMG YES PLS. Then he asked me which character I wanted, and I said Kate was my fave, and he was like oh good she's one of the four I can draw. Ahaha. So he drew me a little Kate with his signature. SOB. This is my favorite thing ever. *pets comic book* HE WAS A REALLY NICE GUY.
As an aside I had no idea Kieron Gillen was british so that was a fun surprise when I started talking to him. :D
The crowds
Thursday, preview night, was verrry laid back and not busy at all. Friday was pretty busy. Today was ABSOLUTELY FUCKING INSANE. I've never seen so many people in my life. The aisles between the booths in the exhibitor hall were packed as hell. Thursday and Friday, we had no problems finding a chair or area to sit. Today? Fuck all. We had to go outside to find someplace to sit, and I will remind you it is Phoenix at the beginning of summer and it was like 100F outside. But relieving aching feet won out over staying cool. Anyway, just crazy amounts of people. The escalators kept breaking and it was causing huge bottlenecks on the stairways and mega problems. F-, convention center.

Some of the signing table lines. O_o

While outside, there was just a constant stream of people between two of the convention center buildings.
There's been lots of cool cosplayers, obvs, but again.. I'm awkward. I don't take photos of cosplayers. I know tumblr has tons if you want to see. XD There was about 8 zillion different Doctors, but my favorite Who-related one was a Donna Noble cosplay, in her wedding dress. PRIORITIES: CORRECT. I saw lots of Avengers-related cosplays too which was great. TONS of anime stuff. This whole con is actually like 50% anime stuff. The whole second floor of the building was all anime panels, and they had a ton of anime-related famous people. There was some voice actor named Vic Mignogna there whose signing line was nearly as long as John Barrowman's. It was impressive. Even though I didn't know who the guy was. LOL.
other
FUN (?) STORY: So, Wil Wheaton was a goddamn 1.5 hours later to his signing. lol. I can't believe I stood in line that long, but we had nothing else to do and after a certain length of time you're like "well if I leave now, he will show up 2 seconds after I exit the line", know what I mean? I have no idea what was going on there. I checked his twitter and he was tweeting about Cards Against Humanity 2 minutes before he was supposed to be at the signing table. Later, they said he got caught up in the long lines/crowds for lunch. And then after that, they said he couldn't get in b/c the exhibitor hall was closed off due to max capacity. (Which is true, they were hitting max capacity and keeping people out.) Yeah. So whatever, I'm not gonna say he's a liar mcliarson, but... XD
Anyway THE ACTUAL POINT OF THIS IS: I stood there for 1.5 hours watching the other lines. Jewel Staite's was right next to ours:

BLURRY PIC! I had to use zoom for these and the light wasn't great in there etc etc. Anyway she's so pretty. I wouldn't bother with an autograph from her tho because I hated her character in Atlantis and the only other thing I've watched with her was that cheesy show from the 90s, Space Cases. But she seems like a sweet person.

Next to Jewel, was Amanda Tapping. CRIPES SHE'S SO PRETTY. I was like, awestruck, looking at her from a distance of 75 feet. I could never get an autograph with her cause she's one of my YOU CAN'T DISAPPOINT A PICTURE celebs so that's never happening. I'm good with admiring from afar.
John Barrowman was two down from Amanda, and I tried to get a photo but my poor camera just refused to take a good picture so unless you want to see a blurry blob that sort of resembles John Barrowman just imagine it in your head. He honestly must have gone through like 200 people in the 1.5 hours we were standing there. He took photos with anyone that asked and he did lots of silly things with them. There was also this woman in line with, well, really large breasts. And he motorboated them. And then laid his head on them like they were pillows. It was an amazing sight to see, ahaha. The woman was beside herself in glee. XD Also, at one point there was a con-wide announcement about the additional photo op time with John Barrowman they added in, and whoever was making the announcement called him the Doctor! So he went and made his own announcement clarifying that he is the Captain, thanks very much, not the Doctor. So at least I was entertained for my 1.5 hours of waiting!

Around Phoenix there are a lot of pedicabs; this guy got into the spirit of it and was cosplaying as Captain America while doing his job. Which, mad props to him. Like I said it was about 100 degrees out and that suit doesn't look comfortable.

We've been pretty good re: spending money on food at the con. We brought our own snacks (and didn't bother with full meals; we've found neither of us get very hungry cause we're so busy anyway. We just come home and make dinner at the end of the day); peanuts, home-made beef jerky, and these amazing things I found at Walmart, wasabi almonds. SO GOOD!!! LOOK FOR THEM!! Unfortunately yesterday we forgot to bring water bottles so we had to buy two bottles of water. $8 for them. Then while eating we both really needed some caffeine so I got two bottles of diet pepsi. Another $8 there. Good lord. But so far that $16 is the only food-related money we've spent so I think that's pretty good. I made triple sure to remember the water bottles today.
It's about midnight, and I'm getting up early for the John Barrowman panel first thing tomorrow morning, so IT IS TIME FOR BEDDDDD. Let's end on a nice picture. Here's a bird drinking from a water fountain!
