i made an art
Sep. 11th, 2013 12:02 pmI've been feeling ~crafty lately, so, inspired by this I decided to make my own version to hang on my wall. I'm really into geometric stuff right now so it seemed neat. I didn't have all the same stuff as the original person so I winged it with what I do have. I think it turned out okay?

My design is much sparser than the original but I wanted it to be. I was going for more of a mid century type of geometric design. I also did not realize until looking at this photo just now that it has the same colors as the feather picture next to it, haha. Grey, red, black and yellow go well together!

INGREDIENTS. I didn't have cellophane but I did have some old comic book bags that I wasn't going to use (I like to buy the self-sealing ones ehehe). I didn't have colored plastic to cut up for the inside but I did have a bevy of colored sharpies. An embroidery hoop, some scissors, and tape I ended up not using. And I forgot to get my ruler before taking the photo but my ruler did play a part too.

I didn't take any real in-progress pics but basically I drew some triangles on three pieces of the plastic (cut each comic bag in half so I had four pieces, only used three). Then I layered the pieces on top of each other til I liked the pattern the triangles made. Then put them in the embroidery hoop and cut off the extra plastic! :D

My entire "mini art" wall. My hallway is very tiny and I have these two 2 foot-wide walls, and this one I have slowly been turning into a tiny art gallery. It's finally starting to look kinda nice. I could just go on a buying spree and fill it up, but I sort of like slowly accumulating things instead. I've only made two of the things on the wall (coincidentally, the two things inside embroidery hoops), the rest I bought on etsy or accumulated by other means. The green one was actually an advertisement someone shoved in my hand on the streets of Philadelphia one time when I went to visit. I thought it looked neat so I saved it. The writing thing is a Twitter on Paper. I like art with a story! It makes things interesting.
