naushika4. Paragon or Renegade?
I am such a goodie two-shoes. Paragon all the way, for me. The thing is I get so emotionally invested in all the characters, and I hate to disappoint them! Many of the Renegade dialog choices and interrupts will lead to your squadmates not liking you. AND I CAN'T HAVE THAT! EVERYONE MUST LIKE ME! I MUST BE THE HEROIC SAVIOR OF THE GALAXY THAT EVERYONE ADMIRES!!
I tried to do Renegade for my next playthrough and I just couldn't. ;_; It was physically painful to me choosing those options!Clearly I have a hero complex
(That said there are a few times throughout the series where I totally do the Renegade actions because they seem "right" to me.. so I end up with like, 90% paragon 10% renegade. And of course, neutrality is always an option. I've been doing a more neutral playthrough this time and it's turning out different, which is interesting.)
I also prefer the Paragon side of things because you get more gameplay from it. You do more side missions, talk to more people, get more rewards. From what I hear doing Renegade all the way through makes the games like 1/3 shorter. (Not to mention how many people die! O_O)
Mass Effect is not the only game where I have this problem. Every time I play Fallout 3, I play it as hero of the wasteland. Liam Neeson is the voice of your dad in that game, and I just CAN'T disappoint dad!Liam Neeson. HE SOUNDS SO SAD WHEN YOU DISAPPOINT HIM. And so proud of you when you do the right thing. So I always take the good actions.
