naushikaI just defaulted on two exchange fics I had coming due. I tried, but fic is not happening. I am not in a good brainspace for that right now. The past week has been super stressful.
My previous landlord (management company for the owner of the house I live in) stopped forwarding my rent checks to the owner, apparently the last one they received was in May. The owner got a new landlord who contacted me to tell me all this stuff. Also the old landlord never forwarded copies of my lease, so the owner didn't know who lived here or what the terms are of us living here or anything, really. Some of the unforwarded money orders were cashed and some weren't.. there were a few trips to the bank to find out info & get stop payments done & new money orders made, which I shipped out. I won't be responsible for the missing checks of course, it's not my fault the previous landlords apparently decided to skip out (?? so confusing), but yeah. Not a good situation!
Also, my swamp cooler is broken and had been spraying water on my roof for probably at least a couple days before I realized. I only realized because it started leaking and dripping down from the skylight in my kitchen. So that needs fixing now too. FUN! I submitted a maintenance request with the new landlord two days ago, I finally heard from their maintenance guy today, who will try to fit me in this afternoon, if he can't, then he'll be by tomorrow. Last night it rained, and it was the hardest rain I've seen pretty much since I moved here. My yard became a pool, my basement flooded, and the street became a river, haha. As a reminder, MY SKYLIGHT NOW LEAKS. A bucket was involved.
I've decided I'm taking a job applying break. I've got a few apps in that I'm tentatively hoping to get an interview for, but if I don't, whatever, I'm not applying for anything else (or even looking at job listings) until after my Toronto trip. It's too depressing applying for jobs and never hearing anything back. I've had like a .5% interview rate, a 4% immediate rejection rate, and a 95.5% complete silence rate. I know this is par for the course and I expect it, it's just after doing this for a few months, never even getting responses to my applications is somehow more dejecting than a straight out "sorry, we went with someone else better qualified" rejection.

To cheer myself up lately I've been rewatching the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon. I haven't watched it since it went off the air. Last time I watched it, EMH had been my introduction to a lot of characters, since that was before I started reading comics. (I went MCU > EMH > comics.) It's been fun watching it again now that I KNOW all these characters. Before I was like, Ms Marvel? Mockingbird? Falcon? Who are these people?? A talking tree and sassy racoon wtf?! Now I'm like CAROOOOLLLLLLl! BOBBIiiiiiiiiIIIIII! SAMMMMMMMMMM! OMG GROOT AND ROCKET MY BABIESSS *SOBS* And the voice actor for Carol is the same woman who voiced fem!Shepard in Mass Effect. Jennifer Hale voices all my fave badass ladies apparently, THE UNIVERSE IS AMAZING SOMETIMES.
Also Jan remains forever MY FAVEEe, she's so great, cue more angsting about how she was cut out of The Avengers and probably won't be in Ant-Man except in a Hank-remembers-his-dead-wife kind of way sigh.
I'm also getting a lot of new ships from my EMH rewatch. Steve/Jan like whoa. I mean look at them hugging
