*wipes off dust*
Jan. 27th, 2015 11:31 amI've been utterly terrible at this whole journalling thing lately. I just realized that apart from the one entry in which I squeed about Agent Carter, I haven't updated in two months. Oops. :( I'm sorry I suck butt.
At the tail end of last year and til about halfway through January, I was incredibly busy from working two jobs. But, I basically quit my second job a couple weeks ago, because I can't handle working that much anymore. I mean, yeah, it's led to me needing to seek out alternate sources of income because I need to make like $200 more a month than my job at the animal shelter pulls in, but I'm not too worried. I'm looking into pet sitting/dog walking, and maybe getting back into some crafting things to sell on etsy. We'll see. I'd rather bounce around doing odd jobs a few times a month to make the $200 than put in another 20 hours a week on top of my full time job to make $700 extra a month. If that makes sense. 60 hours a week = incredible stress. And also never any clean laundry and also a really shitty diet because I never have time or energy to cook or even make lunches for myself. (I'm too ashamed to admit how many gas station sandwiches I've eaten the past two months.)
But speaking of my job, it's going really well. I got a bit of a promotion, in a sense. Not so much a promotion where it comes to money or title, but more responsibility. Which you might think is the crappiest kind of promotion (and maybe it is) but I really enjoy it. So now I do cat medications and cat evaluations. In the past couple weeks I've learned to administer several kinds of meds, IV fluids, draw blood, and all sorts of fun stuff. It's really interesting and also fun. I'm pretty much halfway to being a vet tech at this point. Exciting! I love working at the shelter and I have no intentions of leaving but I'm glad I'm getting this practical, hands-on experience in something that will give me more opportunities later should I ever be in need of other employment.
I still also work the front desk of the shelter two days a week. I actually just had my performance review yesterday for the front desk part of the job, and I met or exceeded expectations for everything. My boss loves me basically ahaha.
So things are really going well at work. I still consider myself really lucky I got this job. And now that I've had a couple weeks without the extra 20 hours/week second job, I feel kind of refreshed, too. And like maybe I can get back into my usual just-for-me activities.
Like, this morning I woke up and did a load of laundry and took out the trash and recyclables and un-decorated the Christmas tree (hey at least I got to it before February) and made brunch. And my boyfriend bought a bag of concrete recently, and I keep seeing concrete crafts on pinterest, so I think I'm gonna go be CRAFTY.
Hopefully I'll be able to put more time into dreamwidth and my old internets activities and all of you again. I MISS EVERYONE. <3

you should definitely take it easy, sometimes extra money isn't worth it. hope you manage to get it sorted so you can keep yourself in t-shirts and wine :)
