icons and sparktober and other stuff

lumos. Yay!
I had a very long weekend project of fixing my icon website, because I discovered at some point (probably YEARS ago) the PHP script stopped working correctly. You know how long it's been since I cracked open PHP code? Damn, I barely knew what I was doing. But with some help from my boyfriend and trusty google, I fixed the outdated code that broke the script, as well as made it more secure. Thanks Julie from new-place.org, your website may be long gone but your icon sort script lives forever on my old ass website. I also spent forever kind of cataloging ALL my icons (except the most egregiously old and ugly ones) atlumos under categorized entries, because you know what, a lot of my old icons still slap.
I know the userbase of DW is a fraction of the heydey of LJ but still, some people are out there making and enjoying icons, and even if nobody ever uses them, it's fun. I can't describe how much joy I have gotten out of returning to iconning!
(Also.. Twitter is Dying a Death right now, so, maybe there will be a bit of an exodus from Twitter onto DW?)

I bought a new phone (the Google Pixel 7 Pro) and it's my first new phone in nearly 3 years and it's pretty much the first time I've ever bought a totally new phone, like, a new release. I bought it a couple weeks after it launched. And it's AMAZING. I am utterly in love with it. So snappy and smooth, and I have battery life longer than 5 hours again (yay), and the camera is AMAZING!
The only downside is, my bluetooth earbuds do not work with my new phone. They are outdated, I guess. :/ Everyone with my earbuds has had this problem and there is no fix. So I needed new earbuds, which was a really hard thing to try to buy, because I am P I C K Y. The main purpose of my earbuds is because I listen to ASMR to sleep at night, so they have to be GOOD. Quiet, no hissing/static noise, and good volume equalization because ASMR is full of nontypical sounds. Anyway, long story short, I bought new ear buds too. They haven't arrived yet, but I am hoping they were the right choice. I literally spent days reading reviews, watching youtube videos, and googling for personal experiences for dozens and dozens of ear buds.

Sparktober is almost complete, though it will live forever in my heart. My bingo card only has one entry currently, I am 80% through another fic that is ticking off several options at once. I also am terrible at bingo cards because I keep forgetting the goal is to get a line? And I just randomly select the prompts I like, lol. Oh well.
I also have a couple fics that are still anonymous on the Drabblefest that I will link once everything is revealed.
All my fellow Sparktoberites have been very nice about my fic, but boy, am I RUSTY at this whole writing thing. I'm actually quite glad for this celebration though, because it's helped me try to get back into writing fic. Sparky fans are lovely and everyone is supportive. A very safe space to make my ~~Grand Return.
The best part of Sparktober has been the watch parties, though. Every Saturday we watched the shippiest episodes of Atlantis, and it was so fun watching in a group. This was THE social event of my life this past month.

It's so nice some things are still just as popular as they were like 20 years ago!! So good. I was watching SG-1 for a bit and it's honestly still good? But i guess part of it is cozy and nostalgic

A couple times I've gone to the stargate subreddit and read threads from people who just discovered the show and they're gushing about how good it is, so I think that's a good sign it's not entirely nostalgia in our brains, haha
