Another entry for the Fannish Fifty - of which I'm only at #3 and there's like 4 months left of the year. So I'm making great progress here, hah.
I'm just Love's Bitch (tm Spike) so I ship in pretty much everything I can, including video games. Although so many video games make it easy now because they have much more detailed stories, fleshed out and acted characters, and even romanceable characters. But I've found I totally ship the unromanceable characters, too. So here's a list of my favorite ships out of video games, of both romanceable and unromanceable characters.

Mass Effect - Kaidan Alenko (romanceable)
Kaidan/fem!Shep is most likely my number one video game ship of all time. Kaidan is, well, kinda perfect - strong but not a meathead. Supportive, but not smothering. Emotionally intelligent. Troubled past that Shepard gets to help him process. I know he tends to be one of the least favorite among the fandom, which I think is for being "boring," but I don't think he's boring, I think he's subtle. He's a calm and reserved character, but that lets the emotional throughline of his story really shine through. I just think Shepard and Kaidan's connection that develops over the games is just *chef's kiss.* They were my endgame OTP starting from the very first interaction they had in ME1 that carried me through their whole dramatic love story through 3 games. Ugh. So good.

Fallout 4 - Nick Valentine (unromanceable)
Nick is a synth with the downloaded memories of a pre-war private dick who's got an angsty past that needs addressed, and only you can help him. He's funny, supportive of course (will kill many bad people for you without blinking an eye), got some mystery to him, looks extremely cool when he smokes up in his trenchcoat and hat, has a fun little identity crisis, and also is just the baddest dude around. He's a fan favorite and it's for a reason, and it's a TRAVESTY that he's not romanceable. I legit don't even know what the developers were thinking? Honestlyyyy.

Dragon Age 2 - Fenris (romanceable)
I don't usually go for the mentally tortured emotionally distant bad boy but they just did it so well with Fenris. And my fem!Hawke is always so witty, clever, and sunny. So I just gotta do the classic grumpy-sunshine pairing with them, because it's perfect. They had the best confrontation-of-feelings-and-kiss scene I've seen play out in any video game. Fenris is SO angsty about his love for Hawke, but is also afraid of his feelings for her, of anger at himself when he hurts her, but then he's also got that unwavering loyalty to her. Incredible stuff. Also, Fenris is voiced by Gideon Emery, so that helps a lot. :D

Cyberpunk 2077 - River Ward (romanceable)
Back to my usual archetype, River is a good cop in a sea of corruption, trying to root out the evil in a sick and broken society. He's steady and reliable, supportive and thoughtful, contemplative and a family man. V gets to help him mend his family and become something of a new (if doomed) family themselves. The only downside is I think they could have fleshed his story out more and I'm hoping for more content in a future DLC! But, we always have fic. And they are in fact the only pairing on this list I've written a fic for, because their ending is tragic (well, V's whole ending is tragic) and I needed to FIX IT.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Goro Takemura (unromanceable)
Another one that I'm just like - this is a total missed opportunity! Goro becomes a very big part of V's story throughout the game; he's a good man who works for the enemy. He's torn between allegiances but ultimately, he's of strong moral character and that's what matters. He's like a calm in the storm for V. I like that's a bit older and wiser to V's kinda dumb street punk ethos (at least, I love playing her with a Street Kid background best). To my mind he's a stabilizing influence for V, and she brings a little humor to his life. And of course they have some mutual goals to work together towards. They just become pretty close throughout the game and are prime shipping material.

Fallout 4 - Paladin Danse (romanceable)
Yeah.. I got a type. Strong, true of spirit, is very impressed by and fangirls over my Sole Survivor/Nora, and has a nice angsty identity crisis in the middle of everything. He inspires my Nora to try and be a better person out there in the wastes. He's the type of character that develops extreme loyalty to those he believes in and/or cares about, which is why he's so dedicated to the Brotherhood and why it fucks him up so bad when [redacted]. But he has his crisis and then Nora is the only one that can help him through it, and they come out together the other side. :D :D It's just like catnip to me!

Well there you have it, my favorite ships from video games! It's not all my ships to be sure (hah) but these are the ones I've been the most invested in.
