Numbers 20 through 11...
20. Cornershop - Brimful of Asha
I still don't think I understand what this song is about.. but IT'S SO CATCHy! Also the video is cool, with the silhouettes on the LP covers and stuff. One of my fave songs to dance to back in the day.
19. Blind Melon - No Rain
Mmm early 90s rock. Long hair, baggy clothes, and everyone was high like 65% of the time. This song is the chillest of chill songs, ahaha. And of course the little bee girl in the video is adorable.
18. Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box
YES it's Nirvana and NO it's probably not one of the Nirvana songs you expected! MWAHAHA. This song is so delightfully creepy, and I LOVE creepy. Which is why I'm such a huge Radiohead fan now, ahaha. When I was young I would play this song over and over and listen to the lyrics and I couldn't get enough. It made me feel uneasy and I liked it.
17. Spin Doctors - Two Princes
I feel like I'm getting into a lot more "known" songs now, lol. Spin Doctors basically had the two singles and were never head from again but they made some quality jams. Re: the video, see earlier comment about early 90s rock with long hair, baggy clothes, being high.
16. TLC - Waterfalls
I loooooved TLC. It felt like they were writing songs about more serious subject matter than many other groups. (Even if that wasn't necessarily true. The meaning of their lyrics were just a lot more obvious to me.) And Left Eye was pretty much my first introduction to rap.
15. Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity
SPOILER ALERT I still listen to this entire album from time to time, ahaha. SO GOOD. So groovy and funkyyy. Plus this video was so captivating.
14. Len - Steal My Sunshine
MORE POP. MORE CATCHINESS. MORE FUN. This video is such a time capsule of the late 90s/early 00s though. I love it.
13. Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
I don't think I've ever heard another Natalie Imbruglia song.. but Torn is so goooood. And in looking up this song on Wikipedia I JUST DISCOVERED this is a cover of a song that some other band two years earlier. Wow I wonder how upset they were that the cover became a super huge hit and nobody's ever heard of the original? Lol. I feel like Natalie Imbruglia's voice is what MAKES this song, though.
12. Everclear - I Will Buy You A New Life
*drags up chair* LET ME TELL YOU A THING. A thing about how Everclear was an extremely important band to me in high school. Everyone's gotta have that ONE band that all the songs seem to be written about you, and Everclear was mine. They wrote songs about feeling alone, being a fuckup, being depressed, hating yourself, being angry, so on and so on. I was super depressed during most of high school so it just felt like all this music was just for meeeeeee. I OWNED ALL THEIR ALBUMS. It was really hard to pick ONE Everclear song out of the dozens I loved, but I did it. XD
11. Pearl Jam - Jeremy
Less personally relevant to me but more generally amazing song about bullying and suicide and school violence in 1991. Plus the song is just so good. Grungy guitars and Eddie Vedder's growls.

I LISTENED TO THEM SO MUCH THAT THEY ARE BASICALLY ETCHED IN MY MIND AS THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY ANGSTY TEEN YEARS.
THE FIRST CONCERT I EVER WENT TO WAS AN EVERCLEAR CONCERT AND ART ALEXAKIS SANG AT ME. BECAUSE I WAS RIGHT IN THE FRONT AND THE ONLY PERSON THERE WHO SEEMED TO KNOW THE LYRICS TO ANYTHING THAT WASN'T FROM THEIR THIRD ALBUM.

Anyway, yes. Natalie's voice makes Torn. It's just raw and primal and... just right. I still like hearing that song kick off when the radio station randomly plays it. :D And no, you probably haven't heard any other Natalie Imbruglia songs. No one has. ;)
