bingo & 31 days of blogging - day 20

adulting is doing bingo this month and so today I got started on doing THE BINGO THINGS.



I ended up unplugging for like 2 hours while I taught myself how to do a CABLE STITCH in knitting!



I've always wanted to try cables and it always looked super intimidating? I DON'T KNOW WHY. It's actually rather easy. (I say that now, watch me screw this project up royally halfway through.) Anyway I'm making a pair of fingerless gloves. :D These ones specifically, which I picked out because it's otherwise a very simple pattern so I could just focus on figuring out the cables. And also the author of the pattern included really clear step by step instructions and some in-progress photos. So I'd have to be a huge idiot to mess this up. They're gonna look mad cute when they're done!

And, yes, it took me 2 hours to get like 20 rows of knitting done. I'M SLOW.

This question is legit dumb and I am the opposite of the type of person who gets comfort from rehashing the bad times. So I'm changing it to this:

I'M SO GLAD YOU ASKED MEME. Well pretty much the current time in my life is more awesome than the times before it. But I had SO MUCH FUN at Phoenix Comicon this year! It was like the geek mecca I'd always been looking for.

I always mean to get back into knitting, but never get around to it. I might use it for my adulting "try a new hobby" square.

My problem was always tension. I'm a little high-strung and anxious in general, and I'd always knit progressively tighter until I couldn't fit my needle in anymore.

Ohh, you should! I myself go through periods where I completely ignore it (usually summer, when the idea of knitting things out of wool sounds like crazy talk). But it's always nice to come back to it.

Aww. I have the opposite problem, I'm always crazy loose with my knitting. But when I try to tighten it then I run into the way-too-tight problem. I've heard if you have a problem with tight knitting you can try knitting with four needles (two sets held together). Sounds kind of awkward though.

Oohh fun! I mostly taught myself from the book Stitch n Bitch so I really recommend it. Very simple instructions and lots of pictures, which are helpful. Also youtube has endless videos of course, thank god, because sometimes descriptions just don't cut it. It's a really fun hobby to have! :D

The bingo thing is colls will assign you a random bingo card full of adult-y tasks to get done! If you do enough to get a bingo you win points! You don't really get anything for the points except self-satisfaction. :D It's just meant to be a motivational tool to get things done in your life. Helpful for slackers like me XD
