Well, I buckled down today and WROTE MY YULETIDE FIC! YEAHHHHH! I've given it a couple readthroughs and done my editing, would anyone care to do a quick beta for me? It's quite short (~1200 words) and is Sleepy Hollow. I don't think I'm outing myself too much by saying that, considering how many people req'd it, lol.

Anyway to make this entry FUNNNNN, now is the perfect time to do a meme I've never felt qualified to do until this year: a fic meme! (I just realized I've written over 50k of words in fic this year! I'M LIKE A REAL FANFIC WRITER NOW finally, I've only been writing fic since 2004).

End of the Year Fic Meme

Total number of fics: 8

Total wordcount: ~54,000

Total number of fandoms: 6

01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

More, much more! I wrote double what I'd written last year, and last year I wrote double what I'd written the year before that. Basically my writing output has grown exponentially, haha. But I wrote SO MUCH this year. Not many fics, but lots of words.

02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?

Well I wrote for some fandoms that were new to me this year. Like Sleepy Hollow and Elementary. And some other fandoms I'd never written in before, but it's not like I'm shocked I wrote them or anything. I guess what mostly surprised me is I wrote a few bro-friendship fics this year, and I'm usually a chronic het offender in fic so just writing about bros is fairly new to me (but I love bros!).

03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

the king of bad ideas, a Hawkeye Clint/Kate fic. I was in the height of my Hawkeye-related throes and I was just feeling these two soooo muchhhh. It was my favorite to write because I really felt like I was in the zone with them. I just love them so muh-huh-huch

04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

Yeah, I wrote a complete AU Teen Wolf fic, and I've never really written like a FULL ON AU before. I think it ended up as my weakest fic of the year but it was good to try. Finding character voices in different situations was hard but a fun challenge. I guess what I learned was that I don't necessarily need to copy things that happened in canon so people go "yes I recognize this moment" when reading the fic. I just need to create moments that give the characters an opportunity to react as in character as possible. Which is extremely hard, lol.

05. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

Profic? God no. As for fanfic, I would just like to keep writing regularly. I don't want to set any goals to beat my own numbers or anything. I just don't want to stop writing!

06. From my past year of writing, what was...

Uh, so I only wrote 8 fics this year so there's gonna be repeats, lol.

My Best Story: the king of bad ideas. :D I think it came out really good.

Story Most Underappreciated By The Universe: The Real Wolf - Teen Wolf, Scott & Stiles brofic. Ok I sound really whiny but I expected more hits from a Teen Wolf fic, haha. But I know TW fandom is super into shippy fics, and this isn't one, and Derek shows up once for like 3 lines, sooo. I shouldn't be surprised. But I feel like my Stiles game was so ON POINT! :(

Most Fun: Like a Bad Version of Freaky Friday - Haven. I think it was pretty much my first successful fun/humorous fic. :D

Most Disappointing: we ran as if to meet the moon - the aforementioned Teen Wolf AU; Allison/Isaac. Like, I don't hate it or anything. But I do think it's my weakest fic this year.

Biggest Surprise: Sherlock Holmes is Coming to Town - Elementary, Joan/Sherlock. Christmas fic! It's a surprise because it's a 5 times fic and I hate those, lol. And then I just sort of accidentally wrote one. Ah, well.

Most Sexy: the king of bad ideas, I would suppose. I don't write smut these days so allusions to Clint jerking off in the bathroom about as racy as I get.

Hardest To Write: a force more powerful - MCU, Thor/Jane mostly, some Tony/Pepper. It's the longest fic I ever wrote, clocking in at over 22k. Plotting out longfic is so, so hard. I started and stopped it so many times. But I like the outcome, and since it was for an exchange, my recipient LOVED it so it was all worth it. :D

Most Unintentionally Telling: in the midst of life we are in death - MCU, Steve & Maria brofic. About 57204% of my Jane Foster feels are encapsulated in this fic, haha. Also a lot of my Fury and SHIELD-related feels. Oops my opinions are showing.

07. Choice Lines:

Video games or lacrosse skirmishes in the street were no longer the primary activities. Now, it was Werewolf Training.

The name was descriptive of their sessions, though not nearly as piquant as the names Stiles had come up with: 16 and Wolfy, So You Think You’re a Werewolf, The Amazing Wolf, Top Wolf, Who Wants to Be a Werewolf?, An American Werewolf in Beacon Hills, The Wolf Factor, Keeping Up with the Kanima (which Stiles admitted didn’t make much sense, but the alliteration was required for the comedy factor), I Survived an Alpha Attack, and The Real Wolf. Sure, some of those were a bit of a mouthful, but Stiles was partial to that last one himself, which was pretty succinct. Unfortunately Scott had disagreed, thwacked Stiles on the back of the head, and said
How about... Werewolf Training.

Boring, but accurate, Stiles had conceded.

- The Real Wolf. Bordering on narcissism here but I LOVE MY STILES IN THIS FIC.

"You've got to be kidding me," Duke said. "It's just a penis."

- Like a Bad Version of Freaky Friday. ...........penis. XD

That Christmas, Joan ignored her phone. It was silent for a whole day, and when it finally buzzed from its position atop the coffee table, Joan crossed her arms, ignored it, and took more of an interest in It’s a Wonderful Life than she ever had before.

- Sherlock Holmes is Coming to Town. Heh. I just imagine Joan staring at the tv so hard and being all [CHRISTMAS INTENSIFIES]
