AMAZING LIFE HACK DISCOVERED

So I've been giving Kindle Unlimited a trial run (first month is free) and it's been pretty good, but a lot of stuff I wanted to read just wasn't available on it. My trial runs out in 6 days so I've been considering my options, if I want to stick with kindle unlimited or not. And then I ran across this article which reminded me that HEY. LIBRARIES HAVE EBOOKS NOW.

I already have a library card so it was a simple matter of logging into my library's system, and there it was, BLAM, an ebook section. The first thing I searched for - which kindle unlimited didn't have - was the next book in the Mercy Thompson series that I haven't read yet because I've been too cheap to buy the books. But my library had it! They only have so many ebook copies apparently, and they were all "checked out," so I put a hold on the book last night. And then this morning I got an email that the book was available and had been automatically checked out on my account and was available to read. SO EXCITE. THIS IS WAY BETTER THAN KINDLE UNLIMITED. And it's totally free because LIBRARYYYYYy. SO I'll be cancelling my kindle unlimited trial for sure. YAY

OH yes, the library is wonderful! Ours gets a lot of books added all the time. Not always new releases on release date, but if you're patient... ;D

So awesome! I'm usually way behind on reading anyway so fortunately that's not as big of an issue to me, haha.

I love doing this. Either with Kindle stuff or actual library books, but the Kindle ones you don't have to go in and pick them up.

The other hack to this?

If you need more than the time allotted to read the book (because it auto returns), turn off your wireless before it gets to that point. If it can't connect...it can't take the book away. ;)

Another thing about amazon is that you used to be able to "borrow" Kindle books similarly with a prime membership, but then they started Kindle Unlimited, which you have to pay for additionally now. Hells no!

Working as I do in a public library, I'm kind of relieved to know that Kindle Unlimited is slightly disappointing.
