star wars tv
Jun. 11th, 2024 10:15 amI finished The Mandalorian:
Din & Grogu found family is LIFE. I'm literally so obsessed with Din and his tiny yoda baby that he literally gave birth to and would kill everyone for. Reduced to a sobbing mess over them tbh. It's just such a rarely seen dynamic on tv in general but of course I'm a fucking SUCKER for this stoic, distant, hardened yet soft-spoken bounty hunter type inadvertently becoming super attached to this pathetic creature and it becoming his entire sole reason for being set in a fantasy backdrop with wacky weekly adventures??????

I'm so sad the show is over, I guess they are making a movie which I will devour but UGH. I saw a post somewhere that said The Mandalorian deserved the early tv treatment of 22 episode seasons and yes, that is the only way the show could have been better. But as it stands, it's the most "old style" type tv show I've seen come out in a while. There was a larger story but mostly the episodes were standalone. And it was a fun show. But also emotional. jsdkofljSFJDSKLFJDSKL
As for Bo-Katan, I love her! (Maybe I'm biased because Katee Sackhoff can never do anything wrong in my eyes ever.) And season 3 was totally fine, I really don't know why there are always so many haters of stuff. Just another reminder not to give a shit what the internet hivemind has to say about anything, 9 out of 10 times they're just dumb. I really liked Bo-Katan's sad little arc of her trying to unite her people and reclaim her homeland and everyone's just like "meh whatever" and then she's like o I guess I was dumb to care ;_; and then Din is like NO. ALWAYS CARE. And she's like YEAH U RIGHT. Justice for Mandalore~~

I also am watching The Acolyte (first two episodes):
Y'ALL. Best new Jedi Master since Qui-Gon Jinn just dropped!

Literally so in love with Master Sol!!! He's so wise and soft and thoughtful and very well respected among the Jedi!! And the so-far loving but clearly troubled past relationship between Sol and Osha is giving me LIFE.

As a long time obsessive devotee of the relationship between Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, and the one between Obi-Wan and Anakin, Sol and Osha have the potential to slot right in there as another favorite. I am really SO into tortured, tragic master-padawan relationships. To me they are one of the best things that have come out of the Star Wars universe. Just that incredibly close relationship that develops between a master and apprentice and the potential for it to be SO RIGHT but also go SO WRONG? That gif right there of Sol's fucking FACE when he says Osha's NAME and he keeps old HOLOS of her and thinks of her OFTEN and no matter what happened between them he cares for her so MUCH?????? I CAN'T.

WHEW.
My second love in The Acolyte that I will make zero apologies for:

I LOVE YORD. Okay hear me out. I feel like the Jedi are always depicted as so fucking cool and awesome and full of swagger and personality and funny quips and hot bits of wisdom. And then here's fucking YORD who's clearly Type A to a fault, probably keeps binders of Jedi rules next to his bedstand, and absolutely is the most uptight Jedi Knight ever to pass through the halls of the Temple. Yeah okay I probably identify with him a bit but I just LOVE HIM. He's not a commonly depicted kind of Jedi character, he's such a square, but his heart is ~~~good and also he's hot so he's got that going for him lmao. I can't get enough of him. Also he was the first one in The Acolyte to SAY THE THING

And one last thing, I just gotta share that my pet theory is that Qimir is actually the head honcho bad guy hiding in plain sight:

I just love Manny Jacinto and I think that would be fun, and Qimir seems to know a little too much and be a little too quick on his feet for a generic low level bad dude idk.
YAY I LOVE THE ACOLYTE. Can't wait for the next episode <3

Date: 2024-06-11 06:52 pm (UTC)I just wanna throw Sol into a pile of soft pillows and roll him around in it. The
ForceCinnamon Roll Vibes is strong with this one.Manny Jacinto's mannerisms and speech pattern in this reminded me so much of Jason on The Good Place, which I found endlessly amusing. He's definitely not a low tier henchman; the way I read it is he's on the same level as Osha. That's at least what I got from their interactions. (And I kinda feel the poster gave away who the mysterious hooded figure is)

LOL - best synopsis ever! <333
I also think that s3 relied on storylines from The Book of Boba Fett, it was really kind of The Mandalorian, season 2.5, and some folks either didn't watch BoBF or didn't like it because it was too tied in with The Mandalorian - IDK, people got weird about that. I kind of loved BoBF though, so I don't get what all the fuss is about.
Anyway, The Acolyte is good so far! I love Osha and Pip. Yord was almost borderline asshole and then you could tell he's just a stickler for things and he's kind of awkward about it, so it makes him endearing.

Date: 2024-06-13 08:33 am (UTC)I think the mandalorian is fine? Bo-Katan is great? the relationships are lovely? It was an enjoyable show and something light to watch, not everything can be suepr serious spy cirme house of drama.
SOL <3
Sol & Osha!!
i do love exploring the themes around whether the jedi are right or not, although i probably don't want the jedi to be the bad guys specifically - more a message of there isn't one right way of doing things, but good intentions are good?
I hope jason sticks around. I know he's not Jason but i'm too lazy to scroll up and check is name, and he's so great!! I'll get there.
