I watched Andor for the first time, finally, and now I'm back on my Star Wars bullshit.
It was really good. I love when we get fleshed out characters from another movie or show, so that was up my alley. Tell me why, though, I just want to see Cassian and Leia meet up and have adventures together? And, y'know, kiss. Holding out a dim hope that Leia will be a character in s2. She would be getting involved in the rebellion at this point for sure. Anyway, I've fallen down that particular AO3 rabbit hole for this pairing.
I started watching The Mandalorian after finishing Andor. I heard not so great things about the most recent season, but I'll push through. (See previous comment about being on my SW bullshit.) Here for Pedro Pascal and Grogu, who reminds me of one of my cats. <3
And I have had Across the Stars (Anakin and Padme's love theme) stuck in my head for literal days. It's probably one of my favorite melodies from the whole franchise.

Jun. 23rd, 2022 12:53 pmI'm working up to being more timely with comment responses! Getting back into this groove is an adjustment. I actually feel slightly awkward writing these entries, even. This is something that used to be second nature to me, and I loved just talking about whatever. Now I look at this box and I'm like "how do I write?" Lol.
I've been considering getting certified for the job I do (veterinary technician), which requires getting an associate's degree in the field before I can take the certification test. In person schools are too time intensive and cost too much, but there's an online program that's relatively affordable. I asked my boss if the organization would be able to kick in any funds to help me achieve this goal. (When hired I was told about continuing education funds as a benefit.) He told me he'd get back to me and two days later pulled me into his office to tell me that the organization turned off the continuing education funds when covid first hit as a money-saver, thought they are discussing it for the next fiscal year as possibly reintroducing it. So maybe next year. But since they can't offer me that, instead they just.. promoted me! (And gave me a raise.) I was honestly so surprised to be promoted. I'm the next level tech (from tech I to tech II, seems like a small difference but it indicates a significant level of experience difference at my job). The only higher level is certified. So, that's pretty exciting. I'm really glad I went out on a limb and just asked for something I wanted, because even though I didn't get what I asked for, I got something even better. And the raise, while not huge, does pad my income enough that I can feel comfortable putting the school bills on my credit card and paying the extra income on the monthly payments. So that's an exciting new change for me! I need to set about enrolling now, and also seeing if I can get any of my previous college degree credits transferred. Pretty please, at this stage in my life, I do not want to take an English 101 class again, lol.
I finished Obi-Wan Kenobi last night. ( Read more... )
